Parippu Vada !!. Parippu vada or Dal vada, to describe in three simple words - spicy, crunchy and yummy. A perfect snack for a Malayalee. Parippu vada, "puvan pazham" 😁 and a cup of tea is the famous combination in Kerala through ages.

Ingredients of Parippu Vada !!

  1. You need 1 small bowl of Tuvar dal.
  2. You need 1 small bowl of Chana dal.
  3. You need 6-7 of dry red chillies (adjust to taste).
  4. You need 2 of green chillies finely chopped.
  5. It's 1/2 inch of piece ginger finely chopped.
  6. You need 10-12 sprigs of curry leaves finely chopped.
  7. You need 2 of onions, chopped finely.
  8. Prepare 2-3 tbspn of rice flour (optional).
  9. It's to taste of Salt.
  10. You need as required of Oil for deep frying.

Parippu Vada is a delicious tea time snack prepared from soaked lentils. Parippu Vada is a very common snack in South Indian Cuisine and people are generally addictive. Also termed Dal Vada, the snack goes perfectly fine with chutney. Soaked lentils are ground to a coarse batter, mixed with herbs.

Parippu Vada !! step by step

  1. Firstly wash the dals and soak for 1 to 2 hours.Put the dry red chillies along with the dals for soaking..
  2. Then in a mixer jar coarse grind the dals and chilli without any water, just pulse it. Put the mixture in a big mixing bowl..
  3. Then keep the other ingredients ready..
  4. Add the chopped onions, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves, salt.If you wish add the rice flour and mix everything well..
  5. Keep oil in a kadhai for heating. Then make small balls and flatten them carefully and make thin vadas. It should not be very thick or else they won't cook properly from inside. Then deep fry them on medium to high flame till nicely brown and crisp from both sides..
  6. Serve hot with tea or coffee..
